GMC facing another top ten matchup
Georgia Military College ranked #1 for the second week in a row will take on longtime rival and 6th ranked Nassau Community College. Nassau CC comes into the game undefeated and 6 victories.
Seven games into the season and long travels across the country can take a toll during the season yet Williams knows the keys moving forward. "Maintaining our “health” this week of practice and making sure we are fresh as possible for Saturday. The difficulties in doing this are compounded by the difficulty of our schedule – there has been definite “wear and tear” on the players. Also, the lack of down time given that we went from camp into season and haven’t had an off week yet in the season – will play 9 straight before we get a weekend off," said Williams.
This will be the fourth time this season that the Bulldogs will face a top ten ranked team. The tough schedule has helped solidify the Bulldogs ranking atop the NJCAA polls but every game has been big. Williams echoed those sentiments. "Every week ends up being a “big week” for us as we go through the season so it is difficult sometimes to elevate your team to the highest levels to maintain success. Given our independent status in regards to football, we rely on the impression we leave on teams in the various regions of the country who have votes to cast in the polls since our region does not have a vote. So, regardless of the strength of our opponent, I think we have a larger burden on our program to make an impact each week in the minds of the voters. The positive to that is that if we are able to handle our business each week, we have a convincing argument at the end of the season when the post season is getting sorted out".
