Middle Georgia State Tennis signs first recruits for new programs
On Monday, the Middle Georgia State Knights two new programs, Men’s and Women’s Tennis, each signed their first players. The first two women’s players to sign were Tricia Wharton and Shelby Ashley of Northside High School in Warner Robins. The first men’s player to sign was Nate Ashley, also from Northside High School.
The players will begin at MGSC in the Fall of 2013 and be part of the first tennis teams at the institution. This will be the first new sports introduced since the merger of Middle Georgia College and Macon State College created the new Institution in January of 2013.
The teams will compete in Region 17, which is the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA), of the NJCAA in the 2013-14 Academic Year and will play and practice on the Cochran campus.
