BARNESVILLE - The Gordon State women's soccer team hosted the Lady Hawks from South Georgia State in an early GCAA season matchup.
The Lady Highlanders jumped out in front 1-0 on a goal by Ashley Hendrix with Jennifer Beharie providing the assist. Gordon added two goal within a minute apart at the 36 minute mark of the first half. Alex Chapman scored goal number two with a Ashley Hendrix assist. The third goal was netted by Brittany Colangelo with Chapman providing the assist. GSC would go into the half with a 3-0 lead.
South Georgia State would finally cut into the lead 3-1 at the 82:00 minute mark on a goal from Serena Nelson and Montserrat Hernandez giving an assist. At the 85 minute mark Yosselin Paz would score for the Lady Hawks 3-2 and putting pressure on GSC to hold on.
GSC would go on to run out the last 5 minutes thus securing a 3-2 win.
Gordon State is now 3-1-1 overall, while the Lady Hawks are 2-2. SGSC returns to play tomorrow hosting Andrew College and Gordon will host Polk State on Sunday.
