Team Stats
E. Georgia
Georgia Military College's Softball team punched their ticket to the NJCAA National Championship for the second straight season coming all the way back through the losers bracket after an initial opening day loss with an impressive four straight wins and a two-game sweep of #1 seed Abraham Baldwin College Fillies by winning both the championship game and the necessary if game 6-3 at Strong Rock.
The Bulldogs started the tournament with a 5-2 loss to ABAC and then picked up an extra inning win the opening day to eliminate Gordon State 8-4 in 8 innings. Day 2 saw the Bulldogs eliminate East Georgia 3-2 in 11 innings, and then the two ABAC wins.
Pitcher Avien Trull picked up 3 of the 4 wins through the tournament comeback. Tournament MVP Callie Faircloth came into the the championship and "If" game and went 3-5 with three RBI's and made four key defensive catches in centerfield.
Coach Bunn commented, this team showed some resilience, they didn't quit."
The Bulldogs open up their bid for the NJCAA National Championship will begin on May 24th in Yuma, Arizona against Florida Southwestern.
