Coulter Inks Letter Of Intent with UGA Bulldogs
Gordon State College sophomore Hannah Coulter has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the University of Georgia softball program in the spring of 2019.
"There is no one more deserving than Hannah Coulter to be joining the University of Georgia's softball team this spring," said Highlander Head Softball Coach Ally Hattermann. "Hannah is one of the most gifted catchers I have ever coached and I know she will go up to Athens and work hard to make the Bulldogs better."
The catcher was a starter for the Highlanders in 2018, helping them to a NJCAA Region XVII final four appearance. She batted .312 while hitting 10 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs and batting in 23 Highlanders. She threw out 11 runner stealing and picked off an additional 7. The GCAA coaches voted her to the All NJCAA Region XVII first-team as a catcher. Academically, she was a member of the Gordon State College Dean's List as well as named a 2018 NFCA Scholar Athlete. She was also named one of three Gordon State College softball team captains for 2018-2019.
"Prior to my signing, I asked my teammates to come to the table with me," said Coulter. "I told them now before I sign these papers, I want you to hold on to this ink pen and then pass it to a teammate because this ink pen is special. I may be the only one signing to UGA today, but it was each and every one of you that helped me get here," continued Coulter.
Coulter came to the Highlanders by way of Bleckley County High School and the Georgia Firecrackers Organization. She will graduate from Gordon State on December 7, 2018 with an associate's degree in business management. She is the daughter of Shane and Jennifer Coulter of Cochran, GA.
