Team Stats
Andrew College visited Carrollton April 8 and downed West Georgia Tech 10-0 and 6-2. On Saturday in Cuthbert, the Golden Knights exacted some revenge, sweeping the Fighting Tigers 13-5 and 5-4.
In Game One, WGTC pounded out 12 hits and led 13-1 after three innings. Dezirae Rhodes blasted a three-run homer in the first inning and the Golden Knights did not look back, scoring five in the second and four in the third. Jayde Bradley got the win, only giving up five unearned runs on just three hits. Bradley helped herself by driving in three runs from the plate.
In Game Two, WGTC again drew first blood, plating two runs in the first. The Golden Knights led 2-1 after one inning and 3-2 after three innings. WGTC scored two in the top half of the seventh to lead 5-2, then held on as the Fighting Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the frame. With the wins, WGTC improved to 9-19, 5-17 in GCAA play. Andrew fell to 21-33 and 6-16.
Coming off the big sweep on Saturday, the Golden Knights stepped out of conference when Chattahoochee Valley from Phenix City, Ala., visited Carrollton on Sunday. WGTC dropped the first game 2-0 and in Game Two pounded out 16 hits, but came up on the short end of a 10-5 decision. The losses dropped the Golden Knights to 9-21 while CCVC improved to 26-22.
Coach Monica Mills' team has an important weekend coming up. On Friday, South Georgia visits Carrollton with a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. On Saturday, East Georgia comes to town for a 2 p.m. doubleheader. WGTC plays its home games at Central High School.
