CONNOR HEYDON NAMED NATIONS BEST FOR GAMES PLAYED AUG. 20-30
Cuthbert, Ga. -- Freshman forward Connor Heydon has been named as the National Junior College Athletic Association Men's Soccer Player of the Week for all games played Aug. 20-30, the national office announced on Wednesday.
Heydon, a freshman from New South Wales, Australia, opened his collegiate career by scoring the decisive game winning goal against Patrick Henry CC (Va.) in the 71st minute to upset the Patriots 2-1 in the opening match of the 2015 Kickoff Classic on Friday, Aug. 21 in front of 172 fans at Hord Athletic Complex.

"Connor is so deserving of this distinction," said head coach Rudy Roediger. "Not only is he an outstanding soccer player, but he is an excellent student and an esteemed member of the college community."
"It's an honor to be awarded the player of the week award for NJCAA Division I," said Heydon. "It's been a long road to get here and I'm glad that all my hard work is finally paying off on the pitch."
In his third career appearance Heydon set a new career mark when the Maitland Grossman High School alum netted two goals and provided an assist in the Fighting Tigers, 6-1, victory at East Central CC (Miss.) on Friday, Aug. 28.
Heydon finished the week with the second most goals (5) and points (13) in the nation.
