Espinal leading all NJCAA soccer offensive stats
THOMASVILLE – Darton State had no troubles with Thomas University Reserve, Tuesday, resulting in a 6-1 win for the Cavaliers.
All-American forward Darwin Espinal scored a hat trick, and now has 28 goals – only 2 shy of the school record of 30 goals, set by Mynor Perez in 2010.
Espinal currently leads the entire NJCAA in all three offensive categories - goals, points (73) and assists (17).
“And he’s doing this while we’re playing an extremely competitive schedule,” Darton head men’s soccer coach Bart Sasnett said.
Eight of Darton’s 16 games have been against nationally ranked programs.
The Cavs will take on yet another Top 10 program as they travel to Dunwoody, Saturday, to play No. 3 Georgia Perimeter College. It will be the last game of Darton’s regular season.
Darton is now 11-5 overall and 4-1 in conference play. They’ll host the 2014 Region 17 Soccer Championships Nov. 1-2.
