GMC takes GCAA Golf Championship
Forsyth, GA — The Georgia Military College (GMC) men's golf team captured the GCAA Championship Monday at River Forest Golf Club. The Bulldogs victory stopped ABAC's string of five consecutive titles.
The Bulldogs won the 36-hole multi divisional tournament by 10 strokes (623) over Andrew College, by having two golfers finish tied with the low score forcing a one hole playoff between team members to determine low medalist. Andrew carried a two round total of 633. ABAC finished third at 637. Oxford Emory completed the tournament with a 689 total.
GMC's teammates Bradley Hammock and Nick Johnson finished tied for the individual champion at 151, so both Hammock(76,75) and Johnson(74,77) went to a playoff to determine the low medalist. Hammock captured the low medalist award with a one hole playoff.
Hammock(151) and Johnson(151) of GMC, Linus Landhal(154) of Andrew, Junhoa Huang(155) of Oxford Emory and Stewart Rustin(158) of ABAC were named to the GCAA All Region team as the top five finalists. GMC Coach Greg Zecca was selected as Coach of the Year.
GMC advances to the NJCAA DIII National tournament on June 6-9 at Chautauqua Golf Course in Chautauqua, NY. where they will compete against teams from across the country.
