ABAC Captures 5th Consecutive GCAA Golf Championship
TENNILLE, GA — The Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College(ABAC) men's golf team captured the GCAA Championship Monday at Twin City Country Club. The victory marks the 5th consecutive title for the Stallions.
The Stallions won the 36-hole multi divisional tournament by 4 strokes(622) over Georgia Military, by having three golfers finish in the top 5. GMC carried a two round total of 626. Andrew College finished third at 649. Oxford Emory completed the tournament with a 685 total.
GMC's Browning Benton, won the individual championship(low medalist), started with a first round low 69 and finished the tournament with a two round 145, one stroke over par. He led the all-tournament team along with teammate Austin Quillian, who shot a 73 in the opening round and finished at 150, second-best in the tournament.
Hagen Marion(154), Ben Sanders(155) and Brady Kotkiewicz(158) of ABAC, and Sachin Bhasin(158) of Oxford Emory were also named to the GCAA All Region team as the top five finalists.
ABAC advances to the NJCAA Southeast District tournament on April 25/26th at The Golf Club in Bristol, TN. where they will compete against teams from Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
