ALBANY – The Cavaliers won their 14th consecutive Region 17/GCAA Golf Championship title, today at Stonebridge Golf and Country Club in Albany, and Darton freshman Conner Watt won Low Medalist honors.
Darton shot 292, 287 and 285 over three rounds to total 864 strokes, finish at an even par, and to win by 33 strokes. Georgia Northwestern finished 2nd with 897 strokes. ABAC finished 3rd with 904. "284 was our goal so that we'd be the first team to finish under par," Darton State head golf coach Gary Hilton said. "We were one stroke short, but it's still an amazing score. We set a lofty goal today and we almost did it, so I was proud of them."
Watt finished Round 3 at 1-over today. He shot 5- and 1-under in Rounds 1 and 2, respectively, and finished with a total of 211 to finish 5-under par. He was also Low Medalist at Glen Lake on April 1. "He's just playing really good golf," Hilton said.

Watt, Hunter Tidwell and Jake O'Bryan all earned All-Tournament/ All Region 17 honors.
Tidwell finished 2-over after shooting 73, 75 and 70 to finish 3rd with 218 strokes. O'Bryan finished 4-over and tied for 4th after shooting 79, 72 and 69 to total 220 strokes.
The GCAA awarded Hilton, now in his second year as head coach of the Cavaliers, his second Region 17 Golf Coach of the Year recognition.
Now he and the Cavs have a little over a month to train and keep their focus on the 2015 NJCAA DII Golf Championship at Scottsboro, Ala., on May 19.
