Darton State Golf moves up to #1 in national poll

ALBANY - Darton State College escalated from No. 2 in last week’s poll and took the top spot in NJCAA DII Golf, and the NJCAA’s highly anticipated announcement precludes Darton’s final outing of the fall season.
“The No. 1 ranking confirms that the long hours and hard work at practice are paying off,” Darton State College head coach Gary Hilton said. “It’s great to know the polls are paying attention to our strong fall season, but everyone on the team realizes we have to work even harder and keep building momentum for the spring.”
The Cavs have one last performance this fall however, as they travel to Alexander City, Ala., for the Central Alabaman Community College Fall Invitational on Monday.
“Our goal has always been to finish the final poll in May as the No. 1 team in the nation and we will continue to work hard every day to give ourselves the best opportunity to win the national championship,” Hilton said.
