Darton third at Wallace State Fall Invitational
CULLMAN, Ala. - Darton State College took third place at
the Wallace State
Fall Invitational, Tuesday, at the Cullman Golf Club
in Cullman, Ala.
The Cavaliers finished three rounds at 6-under par. Hosts
Wallace State
won at -43, followed by Eastern Florida State¹s
-36.
"It was great to get the season started off with a top 3
finish and
something that we can build on, but we all understand there
are a few
things we have to work on before our next tournament²
Darton Head Golf
Coach Gary Hilton said.
Seth Sanders and Jake O¹Bryan tied for tenth and led
the Cavaliers. At
5-under par. Sanders won the second round with 64 strokes,
and was 1- over
and 2-over in the first and third rounds, respectively.
O'Bryan scored 71,
67, 73.
Hunter Tidwell shot an even 72 all three rounds and tied for
17th. Bailey
Ulp finished 1-over after shooting 74, 71, 72.
Josh Glossop tied for 30th after shooting 73, 77, 70 to
finish 4-over.
Tyler Shamblin was 12-over after shooting 78, 76,
74.
³I¹m proud of the way the guys battled back after
a shaky opening round,
and there were more positives than negatives,² Hilton
said. ³That has me
very excited about the potential of this team. We had bright
spots with
all 6 players that competed, but every player has areas of
his game that
need extra work in the next few weeks before the Thomas
University
Invitational."
The Cavaliers travel next to Kinderlou Forest in Valdosta
for the Thomas
University Invitational on Sept. 29.
