Darton swings into Spring Fling this Thursday
ALBANY – The Cavs could get it together at the right time, Thursday, head Darton golf coach Dale Dover said. He will take his Cavaliers to the 13th Annual Ron Marshall Spring Fling in Scottsboro, Ala., with a focus on winning their last regular season tournament and gaining confidence before vying for their 13th consecutive conference title.
The Cavs will step onto the Goose Pond Colony Golf Course ranked No. 10 in the NJCAA and with a season full of ups and down in their wake, but Dover has seen improvement at practice and hopes his team will gel at the right time, he said.
“We haven’t reached our potential this year,” he said. “It’s about time for them to break out.”
Darton can expect to see No. 4-ranked Faulkner Community College, with whom Darton tied once in September but has not been able to beat in their last four meetings. However for the first time in years, District rivals No. 8 Wallace State and No. 12 Central Alabama will not compete at the Spring Fling.
Darton finished the 2013 Spring Fling in 5th place and 24 over par.
The 3-round tournament will close Darton’s regular season schedule. The Cavaliers will travel to Bagby State Park in Fort Gaines for the 2014 Region 17 Championship on April 5.
