Tigers 8 run rally beats Wallace-Dothan 9-8

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- On a historic night, the Tigers unveiled their new lights, fell behind Wallace State-Dothan 5-0, rallied to take an 8-5 lead in the bottom of the 6th inning, only to have the Governors tie the game back up in the top of the 8th inning, before Jalin Thomas drew a bases-loaded walk to force in the eventual game winner in the bottom of the 8th, and Adonis Graham nailed down his 1st save of the year, as the Tigers won 9-8 on Friday night at the Hord Athletic Complex.

Hunter Norman (1-0) was the game winner, tossing 2 innings, striking out 4, and Graham was aided by two defensive gems, one by Jordan Holt who banged into the wall in deep centerfield for the 2nd out in the 9th inning, then Jimmy Fackler making a running, shoestring catch down the right field line to end the game.

Holt, Chris Schwarzer, Josh Peters, and Andrew Compton all had a pair of hits on the night, with Schwarzer also picking up 2-RBI, while Holt, Peters and Compton had 1-RBI each. Holt also stole 2 bases in the game.

Thanks to the generosity of an estate gift from Mary Frances Cox Parramore '53, new lighting for the baseball and softball fields has been installed at the Andrew College Hord Athletic Complex. A short ceremony was held prior to the game by Andrew President Dr. Linda Buchanan, with several members of the family in attendance, State Representative Gerald Green counted down the clock to turn on the lights, then long-time Andrew College administrator, athletic director and coach Jimmy Gilbert threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
