Lady Jags retain title for second straight year
The Lady Jaguars of Georgia Perimeter won every match they played against perennial tennis power Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association tournament. With their second consecutive conference championship Saturday, the Lady Jags will head to Tyler, Texas, for the national tournament in May and a shot at the top ranked Tyler Apaches.
The GCAA named sophomore ace Niriantsa Rasolomalala the tournament’s Most Valuable Player for the second straight year. And for the second consecutive year head coach Mohamed Nait Omar was named Coach of the Year.
Rasolomalala defeated persistent Kelly Burge of ABAC 6-2, 7-5 in No. 1 singles, and in the top flight doubles match she and Corina Anghelescu rolled by Burge and Lorraine Chon Qui 6-0, 6-1.
