ALBANY – Darton State College shut
out the Georgia Perimeter College Lady Jaguars 5-0, today, at
home.
All American defender Janay Campbell was first to light up the
scoreboards. After a quick, surprising run from the center line the
sophomore scored on a long, lobbing shot in the 17th minute.
Forwards Brianna Lemerise and Annick Musambi took over from there
and scored two goals apiece.
The Lady Cavalier defense held the Lady Jaguars to only four
shots on goal
“We made some adjustments, and defensively we looked
very good,” Darton head women’s soccer coach Ken
Veilands said.
The Lady Cavs played a 4-3-3 formation, switching Campbell to
left back and positioning sophomore Alexis Roland as ran outside
right defender.
“Alexis Roland on that right back was
outstanding,” he said.
The win was Darton’s fifth shut out of the season.
Darton is now 7-0 overall, 4-0 in GCAA play, and ranked No. 2
in the NJCAA.
They’ll host Gordon College (0-4, 0-6), on Friday at 7
p.m.
