Oxford-Emory Women's soccer gives back through PATH Project
This semester, the Oxford College of Emory University's Women's Soccer team had the opportunity to give back to the local community by working with the PATH Project. The PATH Project creates programs in local trailer park communities of first- and second-generation Mexican immigrants.
Every Wednesday, the soccer team, along with other volunteers, visits the Riverside RV/Trailer Park in Covington, Georgia. For the first hour of the after-school program, the students help the children with homework and communication skills. After a quick snack, the children receive a reward for completing their homework, so they play soccer, tag, Simon Says, and other recreational activities with the Oxford students.
Moreover, the Oxford students serve as positive role models for the children to ensure that they stay on the right "path" towards completing their education and continuing onto college.
