Lady Chargers win NJCAA District J Championship; advance to NJCAA National Tournament
The Lady Chargers fresh off their NJCAA Region 17 Championship last Saturday traveled to Spartanburg, South Carolina to take on the NJCAA South Carolina / North Carolina Champion Spartanburg Methodist College. Georgia Highlands came away with the NJCAA District J Championship with a 76-43 win. With the win the Lady Chargers advance to the NJCAA National Tournament in Lubbock, Texas.
The Lady Chargers got out of the gate with a fast start leading 27 – 12 in the first half. GHC owned the paint and had a great defensive effort. GHC was led by Kayla Carter with 25 points, followed by Danyelle Blankinship with 11 points. Deana Blankinship was huge off the bench in the win scoring 9 points and 6 assist.
" We really played well tonight, especially in the 2nd half, Kayla Carter had another great night. I thought we played tight early, but as the game went along we got into a good flow." "Danyelle Blankinship was huge for us tonight as well," said Lady Charger Head Coach Brandan Harrell.
GHC now heads to Lubbock, Texas for the NJCAA National Championship Tournament March 14 – 19.
