Lady Titans cruise past Albany Tech
Macon, Ga – The Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) Lady Titans added to their win column Wednesday night with a 69-54 victory over Albany Technical College. The Lady Titans improve to 5-3 in the conference and 14-7 overall.
Starting the game on a 7-2 run, the Lady Titans proved to have the upper hand throughout the competition. With their long-range game on target, the Lady Titans scored 18 three-pointers. Sophomore Lauren Duncan had the hot hand on the night, knocking down 4 deep range baskets. Sophomores A'Chanti Layfield and Lorrie Cruse also landed long shots for the Lady Titans.
Led by Sophomores Aleisha Merriweather and Ra'Keta Shelton, the Lady Titans controlled the paint on both ends of the court. Out rebounding Atlanta Tech 72-57, the Lady Titans scored an impressive 21 second chance points.
Both Merriweather and Shelton recorded a double-double on the night. Merriweather finished with 20 points and 14 rebounds, while Shelton tallied 12 points, 23 rebounds, and two assists. Lauren Duncan and A'Chanti Layfield also scored double-digits for the team, as Duncan had 14 points, three rebounds, three assists, and one steal, and Layfield pulled in 10 points, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals.
The Lady Titans' next game is on the road against South Georgia Technical College Saturday, January 23. Tip-off is at 1:00 p.m.
