CGTC's Keyondra Jenkins signs with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers
Macon- Central Georgia Technical College's (CGTC) women's basketball player, Keyondra Jenkins, has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her academic and athletic endeavors with the University of Minnesota next fall.
During the 2013-2014 season, the sophomore point guard from Fayetteville averaged 16 points, 4.6 assists, and 3 steals per game. Upon helping the Lady Titans earn a 16-4 conference record, Jenkins was named to the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) Second-Team as a freshman. She was selected as one of the top 40 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Student-Athletes, and was also selected to participate in the sixth annual NJCAA Coaches Association All-Star Weekend in Niceville (FL).
"I loved that Minnesota showed interest and wanted me to be a part of their program," said Jenkins. "That means a lot to me. I love it here at CGTC and we still have a conference championship to work for, but I'm happy that I know I have a four-year home after I leave CGTC. Coach [Jamie] Brooks and my AAU coach helped guide me through the process and I can't thank them enough."
"Mercedes is a special player and is an even better person," said Lady Titans coach Jamie Brooks. "She is a true leader on the floor for us and can affect the game in so many ways. Her personality is so infectious in a positive way and rubs off on the rest of our team. I think Minnesota got a pretty special player."
In her sophomore season, Jenkins is averaging 12.8 points and 6.5 assists per game.
