Lady Cavs cage E. Georgia Lady Bobcats 78-28
ALBANY – The Cavalier Arena was all jazzed up Wednesday, as Darton State hammered East Georgia State College 78-28 in GCAA basketball action led by maestro Jasmine Wilson.
Wilson, in her first game in a Darton jersey this season, scored a game-high 25 points, netted four 3-pointers and grabbed six rebounds. But her presence did more than garner numbers.
The Lady Cavs rallied around her, and played arguably their best game so far this season to beat a higher-ranked team by a margin of 50 points. And it was pretty basketball.
Guard Cedricka Sweeting hit three 3-pointers, scored 13 points and had four assists. Sophomore Iesha Bonner looked great with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals. Guard Shanae Armbrister and sophomore forward Kadaysha Jones each scored nine points, and Armbrister took a game-high 9 rebounds too.
East Georgia looked frazzled and out of sync. They scored only 15 points in the first half to Darton’s 41, and managed only 13 more in the second against a defense led by Armbrister and Jones.
The win improves Darton to 11-5 overall and 5-3 in conference play.
Darton will host Southern Crescent Tech, Friday, at 6 p.m.
