Howard becomes the first West Georgia Tech athlete to earn
national player of the week honors in any sport.
The Sycamore, Ga. native was also named GCAA/Region 17 Division III Conference Player of the Week on Monday for the second time this season.
She has averaged 21.3 points per game while pulling down 6.3
rebounds per contest over a four-game period with all of the games
coming against higher-level competition.
“I’m very proud of Kadriana and she is very
deserving of this honor,” said WGTC head coach Kenny Edwards.
“She works hard every day in practice and continues to
improve each week. Her unselfish play is another attribute of hers
that doesn’t always get in the stat line. She guards the
opposition’s best offensive player every night.”
Howard leads the Golden Knights in overall scoring at a 15.8 points-per-game clip, while shooting 51 percent from the field. She also leads the team in steals with 4.1 per contest.
Howard’s efforts have helped lead the Golden Knights to
a 10-7 overall record against mostly NJCAA D-1 junior colleges and
four-year schools, which is the best start in school history. WGTC
has won seven games against NJCAA D-1 schools so far this
season.
West Georgia Tech will take on another D-1 junior
college on Friday night, hosting Snead State (Ala.)
at 5:30 p.m. in Carrollton.
WGTC defeated Snead State 68-63 on the road back in
November.
