Jamie Brooks Promoted to Women's Head Coaching Position
Macon- The Central Georgia Technical College Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Jamie Brooks as the new head women's basketball coach. Mr. Brooks is the third head women's basketball coach in CGTC history.
Brooks is set to lead the women’s basketball program after serving as the assistant coach for the CGTC men’s basketball team during the 2012-2013 season. Coach Brooks’ new position with CGTC Athletics follows the departure of former head coach Fala Bullock, who recently accepted a head coaching position with NCAA Division II Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah.
Coach Brooks is eager to take on his new position with CGTC Athletics, stating that “It’s definitely an opportunity that I’m really excited about.” “Every coach’s goal, dream, or whatever it may be is to become a head coach at some level, and run their own program. I’m excited and thankful for the opportunity that CGTC has given me here,” said Brooks.
Prior to his tenure at Central Georgia Technical College, Brooks was the athletic director and head boy's basketball coach at Southside Christian School in Waycross. Preceding his stint at Southside Christian, he assisted summer basketball camps at Waycross College.
Along with his coaching experience at CGTC, Coach Jamie Brooks’ familiarity with the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) dates to previous seasons as an assistant coach at Middle Georgia College (MGC) and Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College (ABAC). During his two years at MGC in Cochran, Brooks was part of a staff that touted a 47-17 record, and won the 2009-2010 GCAA regular-season and tournament championship. While an assistant coach at ABAC, Brooks helped coach the team to a 46-17 record, and earn the most single-season wins (27) in school history.
“We are excited that Jamie has decided to take on the challenge of leading our women’s program,” said CGTC Director of Athletics, Rorie Bradley. “He is a tireless worker and understands what it takes to be successful in the GCAA. We look forward to watching the Lady Cougars compete this upcoming season.”
Brooks’ coaching resume is further decorated by his recruitment of a NJCAA All-American, a GCAA Player of the Year, a GCAA Defensive Player of the Year, and nine GCAA All-Conference Players.
