South Georgia State and Darton State Split GCAA Swimming and Diving Championship
ALBANY – South Georgia State College captured the Women's Swimming and Diving Championship winning 186-105 over Darton State, while Darton State College won the Region 17 Men’s Swimming Championship beating South Georgia 172-115.
Region champions in their respective events are Jordan Yarborough (Leesburg, GA) in the 200 fly, Austin Vines (Moultrie, GA) in the 100 back, Leeanne Bagaoisan (Bonnaire, GA) in the 400 individual medley, and Stephen Lewis (Lilburn, GA) in the 200 individual medley.
“I am excited for our Women’s Team to repeat as region champions and I’m very proud of our entire team for their showing at the meet,” commented Coach CM Jenkins. “We are now ready to begin the final phase of our season in preparation for nationals.”
Katie Miller tied for Region 17 Women’s Swimmer of the Meet after winning the 100 and 200 breast stroke and the 200 IM.
Diver Jeremy Rutledge was unchallenged and took Region 17 Men’s Diving Championship honors.
Both schools will travel to Buffalo, NY the first week in March to participate in the NJCAA National Swim Meet at Erie Community College on March 3.
