Fillies stop skid with sweep of West Georgia Tech
TIFTON - Kameron Coggins didn't allow a single run as the Fillies defeated West Georgia Tech with the final result being 8-0 this past Sunday afternoon. Coggins allowed just five hits and struck out the last batter to end the game.
ABAC secured the victory thanks to five runs in the third inning. The big inning was started to a stolen base by Kali Price, a wild pitch by Sydney Vaughn, and a double by Savannah Gabriel.
A single by Hardy in the first inning was a positive for West Georgia.
Coggins earned the win for Fillies in the circle. She tossed six innings, giving up no runs, five hits, and striking out nine.
ABAC collected seven hits in the first game. Price and Gabriel each collected multiple hits for Fillies. Both Fillies players each managed two hits to lead the team. ABAC defensively in the field was also perfect committing no errors on board.
In game two, the Fillies picked up where it left off defensively and grabbed an early lead on its way to a 9-1 victory over West Georgia Tech. The Fillies scored on a groundout by Olivia Carter and a home run by Vaughn in the first inning.
ABAC secured the victory thanks to six runs in the fourth inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Victoria Jordan, a stolen base by Skylar Dorough, a single by Taylor Corbett, a single by Price, a single by Carter, and a double by Vaughn
The visitors captured the lead in the first inning, and never blinked an eye moving forward. Carter grounded out, scoring one run.
Elizabeth Massingill earned the win for Fillies. She threw five innings, giving up one run, two hits, striking out six, and walking one.
The Fillies poured on 12 hits in the final series game. Vaughn, Jordan, and Corbett each collected multiple hits for the Fillies. Vaughn went 3-for-3 at the plate as she led the team with three runs batted in.
ABAC will return home against Gordon at Fillies Field, bringing an identical record as the baseball team, 10-12 on the year. First pitch will be delivered to the plate at 3PM with the second game to follow.
