GMC's Ansley Wilbanks named NJCAA Third Team All American
Georgia Military College freshman centerfielder Ansley Wilbanks from Hiram, Georgia, has been selected by the NJCAA D1 Softball Committee as a Third Team All-American. Wilbanks is the 3rd Georgia Military College softball player to receive an All-American award and the 1st since 2008. She was also recognized as the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association's Most Valuable Player, posting a .511 batting average for the year, which was 1st in the conference and 6th nationally. Ansley was also ranked both in the GCAA and NJCAA for stolen bases, 46, 2nd in GCAA and 13th nationally, number of hits, 91, 1st in GCAA and 29th nationally. She was also 2nd in runs scored for the GCAA.
Wilbanks also had a record breaking season for GMC, as she has set 3 new Single Season Records and 1 Career Record. She know owns the Single Season records for most hits(91), stolen bases(46), and On-base percentage(.539), and the Career record for stolen bases. Her efforts as well as the efforts of her teammates help make this the best overall year in GMC JC Softball history with 26 records broken and a first ever National Championship appearance for the program in St. George, Utah May 18th thru May 21st 2016.
