CGTC Titans have two runners medal at NJCAA Half Marathon
-Dallas, GA
In its first season as a varsity sport, the men's cross country team at Central GA Technical College sent two runners to the 2013 NJCAA Half Marathon (Cross Country) National Championships on Saturday, November 16th. Sophomore Danny Shaw (1:23:50.49) and Freshman Jarman Brown (1:28:54.45) both were able to complete the 13.1 mile run in under one hour and thirty minutes making school history and accomplishing personal bests.
Completing the Half Marathon in under the time helped both runners to medal at the National Championships. Shaw and Brown have been the Titans best runners all year and pulled out great times to qualify for the honor of having a medal placed on their necks at the National Championships. Both runners showed great improvement throughout the season as each runners' times kept getting lower and lower with each race.
Both Brown and Shaw have been offered scholarships to compete at four year colleges next season. Titans Athletic Director, Rorie Bradley is looking forward to the team performing well next season and is excited to recruit for prospects in the middle Georgia area. "We are looking to give some of our talented local runners an opportunity to compete at the next level. We are a Division I Junior College program that is looking to compete and believe we can do it with the great athletes of middle Georgia. We also take pride in the fact that we here at CGTC have placed 98% of our student athletes into four year colleges on scholarship since the Athletic Department began in 2009-2010."
