Darton regular season goes unblemished
ALBANY – A win yesterday at Andrew College secured the Cavaliers’ their first undefeated soccer season in program history.
Currently at an amazing 15-0 record, the No. 1 ranked Cavaliers beat the Tigers 3-0 in Cuthbert, Tuesday, to become Darton’s first men’s soccer team to ensure a perfect season.
“It is a great milestone,” Darton State College head soccer coach Bart Sasnett said. “This team is a humble group and they’re not letting anything go to their heads. I think that’s why, and with their maturity, we’re having so much success.”
To the Cavaliers’ credit, it has not been a “padded” season, either. The Cavaliers have had to overcome nationally ranked, heavy hitters such as San Jacinto College, Tyler Junior College, Georgia Perimeter College, Jefferson College and others. And every game in the competitive GCAA can be, and often is, a battle.
The Cavaliers' head into the GCAA Socer Tournament as the #1 seed and an automatic bye into one of the two semifinal contests. Darton will host the GCAA Soccer Tournament on Oct 26-28.
