GMC Captures DIII National Golf Title
Chautauqua, NY. --- Georgia Military College won the NJCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championship on Friday afternoon at the Chautauqua Golf Club in Chautauqua, NY.
The victory marks the second national championship in the past three years and the third time in school-history that the Bulldogs have finished atop the overall team standings with the last coming in 2017 and the first back in 2004. GMC's four day total of 1235 (+83) beat second place Sandhills(NC) CC by 1 stroke. Minnesota St CTC finished a third 6 strokes back.
Georgia Military rebounded its way to victory on the final day from being down by 11 strokes with Luke Ninneman's 72 and Austin Quillian's 75. Every player shot a sub 80 for the final day push. The Bulldogs were down by double digits going into the final round, regained that deficit with another 12 stoke increase on the final day shooting a 301 team best round of the tournament.
GMC's Dusty Watts finished second individually shooting 10 over par 298 (76,76,70,76) while Luke Ninneman finished sixth and Austin Quillian finished eighteenth individually. Nick Paschetto playing individually for Oxford Emory finished third overall. Each player garnered First Team All-American honors based on their outstanding four day totals.
