Stallions capture GCAA Golf Title; Secure District J bid
Braselton. GA — The weather was picture perfect last Tuesday and Wednesday at the GCAA Golf Championship and NJCAA District J Championship at Chateau Elan Resort and Golf Club. The 36 hole combined tournament decided champions for each of several regions and also determined qualifiers for DII and DIII national tournaments.
The ABAC Stallions finished the 36 hole event tied with Walters State with a score of 615. The two teams went back to the 18th hole to start the sudden death playoff. Unfortunately for the Stallions they finished the hole one stroke behind the Senators to finish in second place in the NJCAA District J portion of the tournament. But all news was not bad as the Stallions still qualified for the National championship.
As part of the Region 17 tournament, ABAC captured the GCAA tournament portion by 32 strokes(615) over Georgia Military College(647). While Oxford Emory College finished third at 653.
Stallion Will Bozeman finished as low medalist with a two day total 147(+5). He led the GCAA all-tournament team along with teammate Adam Park, Oxford Emory's Nick Paschetto and GMC's Luke Ninneman and Trey May as the top five finalists.
By virtue of ABAC's score they also advanced to the NJCAA National tournament that begins May 21-24 at Swann Lakes Resort in Plymouth, IN.
GMC will head to Chautauqua, NY as the region's DIII representative and to seek another title opportunity as national champions for the NJCAA DIII golf championship on June 4-7th.
