ABAC captures GCAA Golf Championship
MACON — The ABAC men's golf team captured the GCAA Championship Tuesday at the Brickyard Golf Club. The Stallions won the 54-hole multi divisional tournament by 23 strokes(931) over Georgia Military College. GMC carried a three day total of 954.Andrew finished third sixteen strokes back at 970.
As low medalist, Stallion Andrew Nagel won the individual championship finishing with a final round 72 on Tuesday. Mason finished the two-day tournament with a 219, three strokes over par. He led the all-tournament team along with teammates Lane Jowers and Kyung Chung. GMC's Floris Veth and Erik Sundstrom of Andrew were also named to the GCAA All Region team as the top five finalists.
ABAC and Andrew advances to the NJCAA District J tournament on April 24/25 at Village Greens Country Club in Inman, SC. where they will compete against teams from North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. The top two teams will make the field for the national tournament that begins May 23 in Mesa, AZ. GMC will head to Chautauqua, NY as the region's DIII representative for the NJCAA DIII golf championship on June 6-9th.
