Georgia Northwestern golfers among NJCAA stat leaders
Just two tournaments into the fall season and the Georgia
Northwestern Technical College golf team is starting to make itself
known nationally.
According to statistics provided by Golfstat.com, the Bobcats are
ranked among the National Junior College Athletic Association's
(NJCAA) best.
Freshman John Rollins, who won the SCAD-Atlanta Fall Invitational
(Sept. 8-9), ranks 46th nationally in scoring average (72.0) for
all three NJCAA divisions and is tied for 11th nationally in total
birdies with 14. Freshman Jordan Estes is tied for 31st nationally
in birdies (11). Sophomore Drew Tankersley is tied for 63rd (9),
while freshman Lanier Guest is tied for 87th (7).
Rollins and (4.86, 83rd) sophomore Grant Allen (4.88, T-84th) are
both in the top 100 nationally in par-5 scoring average. Freshman
Chase Cole is tied for 55th in par-3 scoring average (3.13), while
Allen is tied for 88th (3.25) in the same category.
On par-4's, Rollins is 22nd in scoring average (3.98), while Guest
is 99th (4.21). Rollins, Estes and Cole are also in the top 100 for
lowest round.
As a team, the Bobcats rank 13th nationally in total birdies (46)
and they are 29th nationally in scoring average (76.35) among all
golf teams in the NJCAA.
GNTC completes as a NJCAA Division III program.
The Bobcats will conclude their fall season Oct.
20-21 at the Berry College/Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational
at the Coosa Country Club in Rome.
