Titans edge past East Georgia State
Warner Robins – Coming off of a 1-1 game split in the CGTC New Year's Classic, the Central Georgia Technical College men's basketball team defeated the East Georgia State Bobcats, 57-52, on Wednesday night at Larry Walker Arena. With the win, the Titans advance their record to 2-2 in the conference and 11-7 overall.
Troubled by early turnovers and missed second chance points, the Titans struggled to find a rhythm offensively in the early part of the first half. Held to only 12-of-33 (36.4 percent) shooting, the Titans managed a rally with five minutes remaining in the first half behind the great play of sophomores Sheldon Williams and Mike Harden. The team's aggressive offensive attack and play at the rim gave the Titans the momentum shift and a 29-20 lead at halftime.
Both Williams and Harden finished with double-digits in the competition. Williams finished the game with 14 points, seven rebounds, one assist, two blocks, and two steals, while Harden finished just one rebound shy of a double-double with 17 points, nine rebounds, six assists, one block, and two steals.
The Titans are back on the court Saturday, January 9 at 4:00 p.m., when they travel to Atlanta Metropolitan College.
