Ingle picks up 100th career win
Ingle Claims 100th Win
Gordon State College Head Men’s Basketball Coach Israel “Izzy” Ingle picked up his 100th career win Jan. 28 against conference rival Middle Georgia College.
Ingle is one of the youngest coaches to reach the 100th game milestone at only 28 years of age.
During the 2011-12 season Ingle became the youngest head coach in Georgia Junior College history to win the Conference Championship and lead a team to the National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas.
The Highlanders finished the 2011-12 season 26-9 and NJCAA District 13 Champions. Ingle was also named NJCAA District 13 Coach of the Year.
For his 100th win, the Highlanders bested Middle Georgia College in Cochran 64-48 holding MGC to 18 second half points.
“It was an unbelievable team effort,” said Ingle. “We came together and left little room for error. Our team was ready to play!”
Ingle stepped on the GSC campus in the spring of 2007 as a 23 year-old head coach tasked with building a basketball team from scratch. In just five years he grew it to a nationally recognized program winning a conference championship, making a national tournament appearance, earning Coach of the Year Award, and now 100 wins.
“I’m very fortunate to have received this opportunity at such a young age. I have learned a lot from my dad, Tony, and our athletic director Todd Davis throughout the years. They have both helped me become a better coach,” Ingle said. “I also owe a lot of credit to former Gordon President Larry Weill who took a chance in 2007 on a young coach with a dream.”
