Bulldogs punish ASA with 35-7 road win
HIALEAH, FL – Running back Travell Jones had a big day with 106 rushing yards on 16 carries to lead Georgia Military College Saturday afternoon, as the Bulldogs defeated ASA College 35-7 on the road at Ted Hendricks Stadium.
Jones impressive day led the Bulldogs 294 total rushing yards. Georgia Military gained 8.4 yards per carry Saturday and had rushing touchdowns of 46 and 24 yards.
GMC looking for their second win in a row, grabbed a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter when the Bulldogs turned a Silver Storm turnover-on-downs into a 9-play, 67-yard scoring drive with just under seven minutes left in the opening quarter.
That lead doubled right before the end of the first when the Bulldogs blocked an ASA field goal attempt, which was scooped up and returned 58 yards for a touchdown by GMC linebacker Peter Agabe. The Bulldogs went into the half with a 14-7 lead.
The Bulldogs increased the score to 21-7 after GMC scored on its third-quarter opening drive. On the subsequent possession ASA drove to the GMC 15 only to turn the ball over to the Bulldogs on a fumble.
The Bulldogs converted the ASA turnover into another touchdown – 2-yard scamper Tydarius Elam – to take a 28-7 lead and they sealed the victory with a 24-yard Reginald Davenport touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter.
