Cavs top Chargers in series opener

ALBANY - Darton State College beat Georgia Highlands 10–6 , today, in the first of a 4-game series with the Chargers.
Rabon Martin shut down Georgia Highlands while he was on the rubber. Georgia Highlands managed just two hits off of Martin, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four during his six innings of work.
Acuff couldn't get it done on the hill for Georgia Highlands, and took the loss. He allowed seven runs in two innings, walked two and struck out none.
The top of the second saw Georgia Highlands take an early 1-0 lead. But Darton came back with 5 runs in the bottom of the inning, and tacked on four more in the 3rd and another in the 4th to lead 10-1.
Highlands scored in the sixth and stayed quiet until the 9th, when they'd go on to score 4 additional runs before the Cavs could put them away.
Darton will travel to Cartersville to play Highlands on Friday at 6 p.m., and again in a double-header on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Darton is now 12-4 in conference play and 2nd to ABAC (10-2). The Cavs are have extended their winning streak to 6 games and are 25-11 overall.
