The GCAA Baseball Tournament kicks off with a strong field of six teams.

FRI. Day 1: Game 1: South Georgia jumped out in front scoring 4 runs in the second and 3 runs in the third to take a big 7-0 lead. South Georgia added another run in the top of the fourth, taking a 8-0 lead. But what appeared to possibly be a run rule game was anything but as Gordon chipped away scoring 2 in the fourth,1 in the fifth, 2 in the sixth to make it an 8-5 game. Gordon scored 2 more in the bottom of the ninth to cut the lead to one but couldn't push anymore runs across. South Georgia advances to play #1 seed Middle Georgia tomorrow at 12 noon. Gordon drops to the 7pm elimination game.
Game 2: In the second game of the day East Georgia scored 1 run in the top of the second to take a early 1-0 lead. Darton answered with 4 runs in the bottom of the third. The Bobcats scored another run in the top of the 5th to cut the lead to 4-2. Darton plated single runs in the bottom of the 6th, 7th, and then 4 runs in the bottom of the eight to run-rule East Georgia by a score of 10-2.
Game 3: In the nightcap, Gordon scored 1 run to take an early 1-0 lead. That lead stayed in place until East Georgia tied the game with a run in the top of the 7th. Drew Adams singled in the bottom of the eighth for Gordon to score Bobby Woodall giving the Highlanders a 2-1 lead and the victory.
SAT. Day 2, Game 1: South Georgia didn't seem to be intimidated by the top seeded Warriors at the start of game 4 in the GCAA Baseball Tournament scoring 2 runs in the top of the 1st. With two outs in the bottom of the third, Bo Way walked, Blake Shouse reached on an error, then Jake Fields hit a towering 3 run homerun giving the Warriors a 3-2 lead. JD Sabo delivered a two out single in the top of the fourth for the Tigers making the score 3-3. Middle Georgia recaptured the lead with 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th. Caleb Bryson opened up the bottom of the 7th with a single, followed by a 2-run homer from Dylan Kelly giving the Warriors a 7-3 lead. DJ Driggers lead off the bottom of the 9th with a long solo homerun to left field to increase the lead to 8-3. The Tigers pushed across one run in the 9th as the game finished with a 8-4 Middle Georgia victory.
Game 2: Georgia Perimeter finally got the chance to play and jumped on the Cavaliers for 5 runs including a 2 run triple from McLendon Hill in the bottom of the first to take a 5-0. The Jaguar led was short lived as Darton scores five runs in the top of the 2nd on 3 GPC errors to tie the game at 5-5. GPC comes right back in their half of the second inning scoring 3 more runs giving the Jaguars a 8-5 advantage. Darton pushed a run across in their half of the 7th inning due in part to two GPC errors to cut the lead to 8-6. However, GPC answered with 5 runs in their half to increase the lead to 11-6 and that was how the game ended with GPC also advancing in the winners bracket.
Game 3: In an elimination game, Darton scores first with 1 run in the top of the second on a Bryant Alonzo single. South Georgia ties the game in the top of the third on a single by Kaleb Holbrook. Darton reclaimed the lead on a base hit by Davis Knapp to reclaim a 2-1 lead. The Tigers scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th with a double from Hunter Ross and a single from Tyler Bashor to take a 3-2 lead going into the 8th inning. That lead held up and South Georgia eliminates Darton.
MON. Day 3: Game 1: Middle Georgia jumped out in front scoring 1 run in the top of the sixth. GPC ties the game at one with a run scored in the bottom of the seventh. In the top of the 8th, M. Georgia loads the bases and scores two runs on sacrifice flies to take a 3-1 lead. That lead ended up being enough to push them into the championship game with a 3-1 win.
Game 2: In an elimination game, Gordon scores first with 4 runs in the top of the first only to have South Georgia score three runs of their own. Gordon scored one more in the second and 4 more in the third to take a 9-3 lead. The Tigers scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd and one run in the bottom of the 4th making the score 9-6. Each team pushed a run across the plate in the 5th inning with a 10-7 score. Gordon scores 4 more runs in the top of the sixth to up the score to 14-7. A triple by Aaron Mizell in the top of the 8th drove in 2 runs giving the Highlanders a 9 run lead and a run rule victory by a score of 16-7.
Game 3: In an elimination game, Gordon scores first with 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st on a single by Bobby Woodall and 2 run single by Chance Bridges. Wes Armstrong's bases loaded scored two runs for Georgia Perimeter in the top of the second to cut the lead to 3-2.. Gordon increased the lead to 4-2 on a two hit from Drew Adams in the bottom of the 5th. The Highlanders added one more run in the bottom of the 6th to bump the lead to 5-2. McLendon Hill delivered a two out triple to score two runs and cut the Gordon lead to 5-4 in the top of the 8th. Gordon gets back a insurance run on a base hit by Brian Jacobs giving the Highlanders a 6-4 lead. Gordon sits down GPC in the top of the night and advances to the GCAA Championship against Middle Georgia.
TUES. Day 4: Championship Game 1: Both Middle Georgia and Gordon scored single runs in the first inning. The Warriors scored another run on a wild pitch in the second to take a 2-1 lead. Gordon returned the favor in the bottom of the second scoring a run to tie the game at 2. Aaron Mizell lead off the bottom of the 5th inning with a solo homerun to give Gordon a 3-2 lead. Middle Georgia took advantage with both Bo Way and Blake Shouse reaching base as they both scored runs. Way scored on Caleb Bryson double and Shouse scored on the Dylan Kelly sacrifice fly. Jake Fields doubled to start the ninth inning and followed by a two run homer by Caleb Bryson giving the Warriors a 6-3 lead. Gordon scores three in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game at 6-6. In the top of the tenth Middle Georgia scored a run on a sacrifice fly by Caleb Bryson to take a lead 7-6. M. Georgia held Gordon scoreless in the bottom the 10th to win the GCAA Championship. Both Gordon and Middle Georgia advance to the East Central district tournament.
