Campbell to retire at the end of season
TIFTON - Donna Campbell thought Saturday's alumni softball game was a part of homecoming weekend when in fact it also gave ABAC the opportunity to honor Coach Campbell who is retiring at the end of the season. With former players and ABAC faculty and staff in attendance, ABAC Athletic Director Alan Kramer displayed a picture of a ring that was to be presented to Campbell by GCAA Commissioner David Elder.
Due to production issues, the ring wasn't able to arrive in time so the actual ring box and a picture of the ring were presented. Elder has worked closely with Coach Campbell the past ten years as she has served as softball chair and women's region director(RD) for the conference. Elder said that while even though Coach Campbell was retiring from coaching she would still continue to serve in her RD capacity.
AD Kramer said that "he could sum up Coach Campbell's coaching career with one word...passionate." In the 20 years that she has been at ABAC, Campbell stated that she had been surrounded by "good student athletes, good people" and that she had "loved every minute of it."
A video of her years and comments from her former players was viewed at the ceremony and can be seen at the link below.
Thank you Donna for being a positive example for all your former and current players and fellow GCAA coaches.
