West Georgia Tech women's basketball share life lessons
CARROLLTON, Georgia – Representatives from the West Georgia Tech women’s basketball team made an appearance last Monday at the Little Buckaroos summer camp in Carrollton, where they spoke with the camp attendees, which consisted of area youth ranging from ages four to twelve.
WGTC women’s basketball coach Kenny Edwards led the discussion period, emphasizing the importance of working hard in the classroom and in whatever athletic field they chose.
After the interactive discussion period, the team joined the youngsters outside for a play session.
“Getting out in the community and reaching out to as many people as possible is one of the most important things that we do within our program,” Edwards said. “It’s a win-win for everyone. Our student-athletes get hands-on experience in public speaking, while sharing their life lessons and experiences with others. We’d like to thank Little Buckaroos for having us and we really enjoyed our fellowship with these great young kids.”
The appearance was part of a community outreach program within the West Georgia Technical College athletic department.
