Andrew College announces the addition of two sports
CUTHBERT, Ga. -- Andrew College has announced that it plans to add men's basketball and women's golf teams to the college sports lineup, starting with the fall 2017 semester. Competitive men's basketball was last offered in 2003-2004. The last women's golf season of competition was in 2010-2011.
Linda Buchanan, president of the college, said, "Bringing these two sports back to Andrew College opens opportunity to students and is also part of our planned enrollment growth."
The addition of men's basketball will round out the current men's sports offerings of baseball, golf and soccer. Women's sports next year will include basketball, soccer, softball, volleyball and golf.
Blake Williams, Andrew College athletic director, said "I'm very excited about bringing back the men's basketball and women's golf programs to Andrew College. This will bring a lot of excitement to not only the Andrew College campus but to Southwest Georgia. The future is very bright for our athletic teams and the additions of these two sports is attributed to the hard work of President Linda Buchanan and her vision for the growth of the college. I look forward to getting our inaugural season kicked off in the 2017-2018 academic year."
